Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution
International Co-operative Programme on Effects on Materials, including Historic and Cultural Monuments

ICP Materials is one of several effect oriented International Co-operative Programmes (ICPs) within the Convention on Long-Range Transbondary Air Pollution (CLRTAP) with a secretariat at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN ECE) and its Environment and Human Settlements Division. Early in the discussions on the CLRTAP it was recognised that a good understanding of the harmful effects of air pollution was a prerequisite for reaching agreement on effective pollution control. To develop the necessary international co-operation in the research on and the monitoring of pollutant effects, the Working Group on Effects (WGE) was established under the Convention. For further information about the other ICP's, and the Task Force on Health, see the
WGE web site.
